Valentine's Day Petit Fours
Valentine's Day Dessert Recipes
Dainty little cake squares all dressed up for
Valentine's Day!

Ingredients:
1 pound cake
Strawberry Jam
Fondant or frosting
Pink food coloring
Sugar-Water syrup
Pink square paper cases
Directions:
Petit fours, simply speaking are small squares
of cake, dipped in fondant. To make perfect petit fours:
1. Bake the cake 1 day earlier in a jelly roll
pan and freeze overnight. Frozen cake is easier to cut.
2. Cut cake into squares. Spread strawberry jam
on half the cake squares and top with the remaining half to make
jam filled squares.
3. Heat the fondant or frosting to make it light
enough to pour. If using fondant, you may add a little
sugar-water syrup to thin the fondant.
4. Hold each prepared square on a fork and pour
fondant over it. Wait till the fondant sets and then turn over
to cover with fondant on all sides. Place on waxed paper or
directly transfer to pretty paper cases.
5. Add a little pink coloring to rolled fondant
and roll out. Cut out heart shapes from the fondant and place on
the white fondant-covered petit fours using a little sugar-water
syrup so the hearts stay in place.
